Governors are appointed and elected to provide:

  • strong links between the school and the community it serves;
  • a wide experience of the outside world;
  • an independent view;
  • a visible form of accountability for the Headteacher and staff of the school;
  • a team focusing on long term development and improvement;
  • accountability to the community for the use of resources and the standards of teaching and learning in the school;
  • support for the Headteacher and staff

 We are required to publish information about individual governors and their roles and have included a short biography of each one for your information.

Governing Body 2025-26

Wendy Clark – Staff Governor – end of term of office 16.06.28

I am the Admin Officer at St Anne's Fulshaw. I really enjoy my job, which explains why I have been here for over 20 years! In my capacity as Staff Governor I am a member of the Resources and the Personnel, Pay and Performance Committees.

Clare Daniel – Headteacher Governor – end of term of office N/A

I am the Headteacher at St Anne’s Fulshaw and have been since 2004. I am very proud of our lovely school and of the wonderful opportunities we give all of our children to enjoy learning and have fun. I support other schools with their improvement plans during the year and take every advantage of seeing good practice and great ideas……and bringing them back to our school when I can! In my spare time, I love relaxing with my family and enjoying music, film and art together.

Maxine Drabble (Chair) – Co-opted Governor – end of term of office 31.08.26

Originally from north Manchester I have spent my working career in London as Company Secretary for a variety of international companies across a range of sectors recently focussing on corporate governance and risk management.  Never having taken a gap year I decided to retire early and return to the North West.  I am an active member of my Church and am looking forward to contributing to the local community in a variety of ways.

Angela Fitton – Foundation Governor – end of term of office 15.08.26

I have been asked to represent the Church as a Foundation Governor. I am happy to give my help and experience where I can. I was married 52 years ago. My husband is an architect and had a practice in Manchester until he retired. I taught mathematics in secondary schools for 36 years and was a Stockport Magistrate for 12 years. We have two children who live in Wilmslow with their spouses and we have six grandchildren, all attending Wilmslow schools. We lived in Marple for 35 years and moved to Wilmslow three years ago. I have attended St Bart’s and St Anne’s since I came. In our spare time, we love to travel, to go for walks and we love to read, do jigsaws and my husband is a model- maker and golfer. I miss my garden but tend my flower pots on our balcony.

David Cumberland - Foundation Governor - end of term of office 04.11.2029

It is a pleasure to be supporting Saint Anne’s as a governor. I recently retired as the Dean of Education at the University of Chester, where I remain as an Emeritus Professor. I have spent 38 years in school governance and  43 years in the education sector as a whole, initially as a primary and then secondary teacher and a local authority advisor, before moving into higher education and teacher training. I also sit on the Chester Diocesan Board of Education.

Steve Franklin – Parent Governor – end of term of office 09.10.28

I am a parent of two young children: my son, who is in Maple class, and my daughter, who we hope will join St. Anne’s Fulshaw next September. Since moving to Wilmslow in December 2020, our family has felt at home in this welcoming community, and we’re delighted to have extended family nearby in Cheshire.

Professionally, I qualified as a solicitor in 2010, specialising in structured finance, and have gained experience working with several leading international and US law firms. Currently, I am a Director and Senior Legal Counsel at a Japanese Investment Bank in London.

St. Anne's stands out to me as a nurturing and inspiring school, and I fully support its Christian ethos. I am passionate about fostering a compassionate, inclusive environment where every child feels encouraged to reach their full potential.

In my spare time, I enjoy family adventures, staying active, and exploring new cuisines and restaurants.

Sally Petrie – Co-opted Governor – end of term of office 12.03.27

I retired in 2018 from my role as Assistant Head at Cheadle Hulme School. I was, latterly, Head of Admissions, having previously been in a pastoral role as Head of Lower School. I continued to teach English throughout my time at CHS and also taught Drama and Creative Writing.

I volunteer one day a week with Back on Track, a Manchester based charity providing educational opportunities for vulnerable adults, I do occasional film and TV extra work and I work part time for a copywriting agency.

I have lived in Wilmslow for 25 years, my three grown up daughters all live locally and my husband is a retired GP and a keen golfer and allotmenteer.

I loved the school on my recent visit: staff and students worked their magic on me with a carol singing rehearsal and an impromptu poetry performance!

Rachel Woodley – Co-opted Governor – end of term of office 11.11.2029

I live in Wilmslow and have enjoyed being a part of the community here for 28 years. My three grown up children attended local schools and numerous local extra-curricular clubs. I work as a part time geography teacher at Wilmslow High School. I hope that my role and experience at the local secondary school will be a useful link.

I am very keen on being outdoors and enjoy hill walking and gardening in my spare time. I was very impressed with the grounds and outdoor facilities which I saw at St Anne’s on a recent visit and the way in which the children had such free access to a varied outdoor space.

I am a member of a local church and would very much support the Christian ethos and positively inclusive nature of the education that St Anne’s is offering.

Heidi Watts - Co-opted Governor – end of term of office 11.11.2029

I joined St Anne’s Fulshaw in September 2025 and have been teaching in local schools for over 20 years. I currently teach Beech Class and I’m passionate about helping students enjoy learning and feel confident in the classroom.

I live locally and have two children at Wilmslow High School, so I feel very connected to the local community and the wider education system. When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and getting out for walks with our dog.

It’s great to be part of such a supportive school community.

Sarah Knowles - LA Governor – end of term of office 11.11.2029

I grew up in Mobberley and recently returned to Cheshire after several years living and teaching in the Cayman Islands. I have experience across both the independent and state sectors, locally and internationally, and hope to bring this perspective to my role as a governor.

I am particularly passionate about outdoor learning, inspired by my experience of teaching through local landscapes in the Cayman Islands, and the value this brings to children’s development, making learning accessible to all.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors and running, having completed the London Marathon twice and running again in 2026. I strongly believe in developing the whole child and nurturing each child’s individual interests within a supportive and inclusive environment.
