A typical day:
8:50-9:00 Register
9:00-9:30 Phonics and Spellings
9:30-10:10 Maths and Guided Reading
10:10-10:30 Assembly
Playtime
10:45-12:00 Handwriting and English
Lunch
1:00-2:20 Foundation subjects

2:30-3:00 Spellings
3:00-3:20 Story
Please bring a water bottle and snack or snack money to school every day.
Homework will be sent home on a Thursday and needs to be returned the following Wednesday.
This term, PE kits will be sent home half termly (not every Friday) unless wet or dirty.
English: We shall be reading and exploring the text Jack and the Baked Beanstalk by Colin Stimpson, writing our own twisted narrative and a persuasive letter.
We will then read Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty and write our own invention narrative and explanation text.

Maths: Year 1 – Multiplication and division, fractions, position and direction, place value within 100, money and time.
Year 2 – Fractions, time, statistics, position and direction.

Phonics: Year 1 – Review and preparation for Phonics Screening Check.
Year 2 – Spellings - homophones, silent letters and suffixes. |
Science: We will explore parts of a plant and what they need to grow. Then we will be identifying various materials and discussing their uses.

Maple Class
Summer Term |
Art/DT: We will focus on the artist Henri Matisse and use some of his ideas to create our own pieces.
In DT we will explore what a balanced diet looks like and tasting some different foods! |
Computing: We will begin the term with online safety and then look at Stop motion. We will show off our data handling skills by completing a space station project.

PE: PE is taught on a Wednesday and Thursday. Please send in PE kits on a Monday.
We will be developing our dodging and catching skills.

Topic: We will focus on what a monarch is and their role and look at different types of castles.
We will be locating Shanghai and discussing what it is like to live there. |
Music: We shall be exploring speed, volume and recognising musical notes. |
RE: We will be focusing on beliefs about God, special leaders and Christian celebrations. |
PSHE/MyHappyMind: We will be exploring who helps to keep us safe and how we can look after each other and the world.
We will be meeting our brain and celebrating our character strengths. |
